everyday heroes: the power of one

One child…

One hero…

One moment in time…

One lasting impression!

East Cobb County Council (ECCC) of PTAs

2017-18 Honoring Our Heroes Program

Honoring Our Heroes is a student writing program designed for students to write about their real-life heroes and role models.

The person you write about should display one or more of the following characteristics:  generosity, trust, persistence, dedication, leadership, creativity, caring, bravery, imagination, service, gentleness, courage, or compassion.

We want you to redefine media-hyped and cartoon heroes such as professional athletes, movie stars, and rock musicians and instead recognize someone who has made a more personal impact on your life such as a family member, doctor, public safety officer, soldier, or teacher.

What a great opportunity to honor someone who may not even know what a difference they are making in your life!

The entry form can be found by clicking here Registration FormEntries are due to the PTA by Friday, January 19, 2018.

Please contact Pearl Britto with any questions.

Entries are limited to ONE 8-1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper. The student may use

both sides of the paper. Entries may be handwritten or typed. Pictures drawn by the student may be included as part of the entry, but entries are to judged primarily on content, not artistic ability.

**Please DO NOT fold the entries. Lay them flat and send them in a 9×12 envelope.**

Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form with phone number, grade and school. All entries will become the property of the council PTA.

Photos: Photos of you and your hero are encouraged. Please put your name on the back of the photograph.

Entries should be judged on the student’s ability to articulate the qualities of the hero and to describe the manner in which the hero affected the student’s life, either directly or indirectly. All students who participate will receive a certificate of recognition. There will one winner from K-1, 2-3 and 4-5 forwarded on to the conference level. We will host an “Honoring Our Heroes” reception at Rocky Mount Elementary at a date to be determined. Special recognition will be awarded to students at this reception.
